FAQ

Cape Cod Garage Door Questions & Answers

Straight answers to the questions Cape Cod homeowners ask us most. Don’t see yours? Call Rick at (508) 563-6266. He’s happy to talk it through before anything is scheduled.

How much does a garage door repair cost?

It depends on the door and what failed. A single spring is very different from a new opener or a bent-track repair. Rather than a vague estimate, Rick gives you one fixed price up front that includes everything: labor, materials, and tax. The price he quotes before the work starts is the price you pay.

Do you charge for an estimate?

Rick doesn't do open-ended estimates that climb as the job goes. For repairs he quotes a fixed, all-in price. For a new door, the in-home consultation to look at your opening and go over styles and pricing is free. Call (508) 563-6266 to set it up.

What garage door and opener brands do you install and service?

Rick installs quality doors from Clopay and Wayne-Dalton, and services and installs openers from LiftMaster, Genie, and Linear. He works on belt-, screw-, and chain-drive openers, so he can repair what you have or replace it with the right model for your garage.

Does Cape Cod salt air really wear out garage doors faster?

Yes. Damp, salty coastal air corrodes the steel parts of a garage door (springs, cables, hinges, rollers, and hardware) faster than it happens inland. It is the reason so much of the repair work on the Cape is springs and cables, and the reason an annual tune-up and lubrication earns its keep here.

Should I repair my garage door or replace it?

If the door itself is sound and the problem is a spring, cable, roller, or opener, a repair is almost always the smart call. If the panels are rotted, rusted through, or badly dented, or if the door is uninsulated and you want to cut drafts, a new door may cost less over time. Rick will tell you honestly which one your door needs, not which one sells better.

What parts of the Cape do you serve?

All of it. Rick works across Cape Cod from his home base in Pocasset: Bourne, Falmouth, Sandwich, and Mashpee on the Upper Cape, through Hyannis, Osterville, Yarmouth, and Dennis, out to Harwich, Brewster, Chatham, and Orleans.
